Today I want to talk to about my Japanese practice schedule. I have been studying the Japanese language for about 4 years。However, I am self-taught so I still have a long way to go. I know that there are many people just starting to study Japanese out there, so hopefully this will help you. Let's start! 。゚+.゚ヽ(●´ω`●)ノ。
There are two main textbooks that I use when studying. The first one is from the Japanese From Zero series. I really like this series because it teaches you how to speak AND write in Japanese in a way that makes sense and isn't textbook-ish. It also starts at a very basic level and builds gradually. …_〆(・∀・@)
The other main textbook that I use is called Watashi no Nihongo (わたしのにほんご). This really helps with building conversation skills (aka learning how to express your own feelings, thoughts, and stories). It comes with an audio CD with the voices of native speakers talking about various things. Hearing the native speakers really helped me to improve my accent. ….〆(・ω・。)
So, I usually do one lesson from each of these books every week. Also, I usually spread each lesson over 2-3 days so that it doesn't overwhelm me (because I'm in college and have a lot of other things I like to do, too). Σd(´∀`)
Besides my main textbooks, I also have a Japanese verb book, an English-Japanese dictionary, and a journal where I write down textbook activities, keep a Japanese diary, and write down anything else Japanese-related. ( ̄∇ ̄)
Lastly, I just wanted to mention a few extra ways that you can practice and make studying Japanese fun, casual, and apart of your daily life:
*watch a Japanese tv drama or anime (with subtitles, if needed)
*read children's books and manga in Japanese (check Amazon or the website White Rabbit Japan)
*listen to Japanese podcasts and audio shows (even if you don't understand everything they're saying yet, this will help you, believe me)
*keep a diary in Japanese and write about your life
*get a Japanese penpal (the app Hellotalk is my #1 recommendation)
